Autoway Woven Fabrics have been designed for use in a variety of civil engineering applications from road works and drainage systems to erosion control projects and have been found to be ideal in areas where poor ground conditions prevail and weak sub-soil is evident.
Autoway Geotextile Membranes are manufactured from extruded polypropylene tapes which are resistant to all naturally occurring soil acids and alkalis and unaffected by bacteria or fungi. They will not absorb any appreciable amount of moisture which makes them ideal in soil or drainage applications. The use of fabric dramatically reduces construction costs and Autoway Fabrics will retain their high strength and properties over many years.
GRADED APPLICATIONS
Autoway 90 The economic general purpose fabric combining superior tensile strength and puncture resistance qualities in comparison to standard
non-wovens along with a permeability level more than double the normal D.O.T. highway works
specification. Autoway 90 is the recommended grade for drainage and car parks and is the ideal separation fabric for normal road construction projects.
Autoway 120 Well established as the grade
ideally suited for a wide range of applications from land reclamation, equestrian areas, forestry access roads and major road projects where higher strength and puncture resistance qualities are required.
Autoway 150 A significant addition to the range which combines excellent mechanical properties with relative economy. Autoway 150 is becoming
increasingly popular in projects where greater
performance reassurance is required.
Autoway 200 The main heavyweight fabric becoming increasingly specified in highway projects where there is a requirement for a high load bearing capacity and where the sub base is of inferior quality. Autoway 200 has been engineered to give high
permeability and strength with low elongation and exceptional abrasion resistance capable of
withstanding damage from harsh environmental
conditions and the distribution of aggregate. Its unique design makes Autoway 200 easier to handle and install efficiently than other similar weight fabrics.
Autoway 240 The strongest and heaviest grade and the most suitable in river and coastal erosion applications and where exceptionally weak subsoil and very harsh conditions may be encountered. Autoway 240 combines very high strength and
permeability characteristics.
All Autoway Fabrics conform in all respects to the Department of Transport Highways
Specification Clause 609
The Main Function of Autoway Geotextile Fabrics
- To reinforce areas of weak subsoil and distribute the applied load across a wider area.
- To provide a means of maintaining the separation of sub grades from the clean base aggregate.
- To filter water passing through the ground without losing any excess of fine subsoil.
- To improve the performance of drainage systems and in many instances reduce the need for using graded aggregate.

Effect of Sunlight - Exposure to strong sunlight over a period of months will result in a gradual loss of strength in black coloured Autoway Fabrics. It is advisable not to remove the wrapping until the fabric is required for use.
Effect of Temperature - Fabric strength is unaffected between temperatures of
-25%/+100º
Fabric Length - Standard length of 100 metres rolled against a robust cardboard tube.
Fabric Width - Standard 4.5 metres. Other widths can be made to order.
